Huh, Different...

When all was said and done with Jaston Alexander, the CEO of Nachton Universities Marine Sciences Center and Aquarium, which by the way, Kai had had no idea universities had CEOs, she was able to take some time to swim in the waters off the beaches of the Nature Preserve. She'd made her way there via a small hand drawn map from Jaston.

And now she was pulling into the long drive of the Kadzait's home in Nachton, using a map emailed to her by her father. How her father had the map, Kai could only guess. The aquarium had given her a car and it's shiny new silver self had been sitting in the parking lot, complete with her bags from the rental, when she'd finished swimming. It wasn't a shock, as Jaston had told her he would be doing it, but it was still a little unnerving.

Still, nothing beat driving a new car. It was something called a Ford Taurus Hybrid. Kai had not kept up on car trends, but she liked the little thing, even if it was a little slow on the get up and go. Following the drive she came to a little parking lot, and slid the car into a space, before getting out and stretching her arms above her head.

Before her was what amounted to a giant log cabin with tons of windows and skylights.

"Huh, different."

With a shrug she walked across the lot, the always there on a paved surface gravel crunching beneath her feet.

It was amazing how much you could worry about something so tiny, almost undetectable, but you could. But, as she'd been a runner most of her life, Nikhila had been reassured that long as she was careful, didn't over do it and paid attention to what her body was telling her she could continue running. Which was something of a relief, it was her primary way of coping with stress. And while not exactly stressed she did have more than enough to think about right now. There was the baby, a whole new family dynamic, how those that knew were going to handle all of this, houses, the blood sample project, the fact that the lawyer Mr. Hoang hadn't gone away and was making random unannounced visits, and... she felt like she was forgetting something.. oh yes and the Academy. God she had a meeting that she -had- to prepare for was that tomorrow or the next day? She had to check her calendar.

All that thinking had taken several miles and, according to her watch, quite a bit of time. It was shorter run than she typically took, and certainly hadn't resolved anything but she was tired already. Tired, though, not exhausted and she wasn't panting and heaven knew it hadn't been overly strenuous, still she was hot and sweaty and had to brush hair that escaped her braid and fallen in her face aside. The walk back to the Den and their rooms would suffice as a cool down, at least that was her plan. As she walked, however, she noticed some one new. Nikhila hung back for a second observing the woman. Obviously she was Pack, she wouldn't have gotten this far if she wasn't. One did -not- get door-to-door sales men or missionaries in the Den.

She debated for a second, she wasn't exactly presentable right now but it wasn't polite to leave family without a welcome either. Deciding that it would be worse to ignore the young woman than greet her in her disheveled state Nikhila cleared her throat to let the other know she was there and smiled warmly.

"Lost new or both?"Â?

She's stood there looking at the place, for more time than she should have. She couldn't decide if she should just walk in or knock on the door.

"Lost, new or both?"

Kai turned her gaze to the woman who had spoken. She was a stunning woman, even dressed for exercise with her hair slightly disheveled. A smile curled Kai's lips as she took a few steps toward the woman.

"New. I've only been in Nachton a few hours and this is where I was told to come when I was finished meeting my new employer." She held out her hand.

"I'm Kai."


She gestured toward the building in front of them. "I was just trying to decide if I should walk in or ring the bell."

Nikhila discreetly studied the woman. She was pretty enough, blond hair, blue eyes, not quite short but not quite average height, she had a healthy look as if she spent a great deal of time out of doors. She also had an easy smile which Nikhila suspected came quickly to the young woman.

New, good, she was always happy to see new arrivals. Nikhila accepted the offered hand without a second though. Although she was slightly relived, this new arrival didn't greet her as enthusiastically as the last one she'd found (Shiye).

"Then both congratulations and welcome are in order. A pleasure to meet you Kai, I'm Nikhila."Â?

She remembered her own arrival here in Nachton, and even having an express invitation it had been somewhat hesitant and awkward. The reasons for that though were mostly of her own making and past now.

"Personally I planed to just walk in."Â?

She offered humor, quiet and understated but still humor.

Noting Kai had no bags and assumed she must have them tucked away some where.

"I don't see why you shouldn't. We can find you some rooms and help with your bags if you'd like. Or perhaps you'd prefer something to eat or a tour?"Â?

Her grip was firm but not challenging and Kai's smile widened. "A pleasure to meet you as well, Nikhila."

She laughed lightly at her small joke before shrugging at her suggestions. "Can I pick D, all of the above?"

She gestured at the silver car glinting in the sun light. "I've several bags in the car there, more than I can get in one trip and I'd be grateful for the help. Father said I should room here until I can find a place near work, but if no one minds, this is close enough to the city that living here would be a bonus. The whole private forest thing is the clincher for me."

She offered what a crew mate once called her disarming, see I'm not gunna hurt you grin. She didn't think she looked like someone that would hurt anyone, but the grin often helped to soften otherwise blunt words.

Nikhila smiled and chuckled softly at the answer of D. She appreciated what seemed like openness and enthusiasm from Kai.

"An excellent option, the only question then becomes the order you wish to peruse the options."Â?

If Kai had just gotten into Nachton she might appreciate something to eat and a chance to sit down before having to find rooms, lug bags and then tour the place. However, Nikhila wasn't about to make assumptions for any one. The bags were, of course, no trouble she would help and if they needed someone else, they would find some one else. However, there was no point in carrying them until there was a place to set them.

Making one last futile effort to get a stray lock of hair behind her ear, Nikhila smiled brightly.

"It is one of my favorite things about the property. I'm still not sure how we managed to get a hold of this much land so close to the city but it is very useful."Â?

Pure dumb luck or a little at a time or a lot of money, possibly a combination of the three. Nikhila had never really asked. However, while parts of the land were out side city limit and they had no close neighbors it was close enough that Nikhila had no car of her own and took public transportation into the city by herself for work or any other reason.

"I don't see any reason you shouldn't stay her rather than a place near your job. Even with out the forest you might prefer it."Â?

Without thinking about it she started toward the door, no matter what order Kai wanted to do things in they had to go inside and she didn't want to stand still too much longer, she'd stiffen up.

That was a good question, but a loud gurgle of her stomach answered it for her. "I'd very much like to eat. My lunch interview was at some fancy place on the Waterfront and I was forced to eat leaves because they insisted on frying and grilling everything."

Kai waggled her eyebrows at Nikhila. "After that we can see what's what."

She followed behind her newly met pack mate and was delightfully surprised by the interior of the building. It was a nice place and Kai had a feeling, that though it wasn't near the water, she would enjoy living here.

Nikhila loved irony, she who rarely ever looked sloppy was now in the position of tour guide in a very untidy state. Ah well, no one was likely to say much.

Another one who was anti-greens, or at least meat friendly, there were days she thought she was the only one of their kind who didn't eat just raw meat.

"Then food it is."Â?

She led the way to a communal dinning area. While the suites did allow one to cook and eat alone she, on occasion, did enjoy the company of others around while they ate.

Two of her former students were hunched over textbooks in a corner and looked up long enough to say a quick hello, which she returned, before going back to their studies. At least now she knew where to get help with Kai's bags.

It was a good-sized communal area with plenty of tables and chairs, as well as lots of light. More important, to Kai at least she imagined, there were people who could provided food, uncooked even if that was your wish. She gestured that Kai should talk to the staff and find something to her taste. Realizing she was also hungry Nikhila quickly obtained some grapes, yogurt and water before seating herself at a table that was larger than was needed for just the two of them, just in case some one wished to join in.

All the remaining Pipers, all seven of them, walked into the communal area laughing and playing around like a group of teenage boys, which really they were all at least into their thirties, but when they were all together in a relaxed situation, they enjoyed each others company to the fullest.

Streaming into the food area, each man (all of which stood at least six foot two) grabbed various types of nourishment. An apple was thrown from one end of them, caught swiftly in the air by one of the men standing in the back. Plenty of 'Oi's!' and 'boyo's' were yelped through laughter, and when they all had trays of food, they wandered happily over to the tables. Following behind them quietly was LT, 2nd in command of the Pipers.

Two of the Pipers stopped as they passed a table of two women and smiled graciously. Hooking an arm around the shoulder of his friend, they introduced themselves.

'Miss Nikhila. Good day to you, ma'am!' Turning to the new woman, they smiled down as the others behind them waved frantically hello.

'Miss, welcome to the Den! I'm Charlie and this is my mate, Red.' Both men hailed directly from England, as their thick accents suggested. 'And it's not because of his red hair, miss, no indeed. It's because he tends to get rather flustered around beautiful lass', 'e does.'

Watching his men file into communal, LT decided to hang back to make sure they didn't break anything or disturb anyone, which of course they did the latter with much enthusiasm. With a roll of his eyes, he pulled his hands from behind his back and approached the two men, shoving them lightly back to the table with the rest of the Pipers.

'Oh no. No, no, no. Charlie, Red...beat it.'

More Oi's and aww's but the men reluctantly departed, all still waving a very enthusiastic salutation.

'I'm sorry, Miss Nikhila. They're punch drunk from a run.'

Kai was careful to take in her surroundings as they entered a communal area, and the scent of food hit her nose, causing her to sigh in appreciation. At Nikhila's direction crossed and spoke briefly to a young man. With a tray holding a plate of thinly sliced raw beef, and a selection of thin slices of seafood. Kai could simply inhale it all as she sat down with Nikhila.

She was bringing the first slice to her mouth, when the space was invaded by a band of rowdy young men. Struck by the sudden noise, Kai paused with chopsticks halfway to her mouth and watched them jockey and shout.

Then suddenly two of them where at their table, and before she could speak they were pushed away by a rather formidable looking man. She blinked several times before smiling at him.

"Well that was different. You can tell Charlie and Red hello, I'm Kai."

Chuckling softly, she slide the tender beef into her mouth and gave a soft moan of delight as the taste and feel filled her mouth.

It was hard not to notice the Pipers piling into the dining area. Obviously she'd never had cause to work with them, but she'd met all of them at least once. She couldn't help but smile at their antic it was with a sense of amusement she watched them. That amusement only grew as two of them decided to introduce themselves. She, however, hid a smile behind her napkin. She suspected it was Kai's appearance that had them stopping by.

LT decided to chase them off, but that didn't dampen their spirits much she noted.

"No apologies needed LT. I'm surprised we didn't cross paths if you all were out running."Â?

It crossed her mind that Xeph was now somehow related to LT, at least she thought he was. This family tree was going to take some figuring.

Rather than dwelling on that she indicated Kai, who seemed more or less recovered from her encounter with Charlie and Red.

"This is Kai. She's just arrived. We were just getting her something to eat before fining her rooms. Would you, any of you, care to join us?"Â?

It might be a bit much for Kai to deal with all the punch drunk Pipers, but at least it would be interesting.

"Kai this is LT. I don't believe he changes any particular colors when flustered."Â?

Nikhila had to take it as a given that at least LT would sit down with them, and so she completed the introductions.

'It was a sewer run, ma'am.' He shuddered, even for him, 'You don't really want to know.'

LT and the Pipers were still learning the sewer map of the city, almost one hundred miles of it. It was no wonder that the vampires managed to get around town quickly and without notice - the sewers were in fact a maze and he and his men had maybe bested 1/10th of the map. Still, it was something to do while on forced hiatus.

At Nikhila's invite the Pipers began to stand when LT flicked his eyes over in their direction. 'No ma'am, that's quite alright, but thank you just the same.'

The Pipers sat down and this time quietly as they eat their food. LT permitted himself a smug grin as he reached out with his right hand and properly introduced himself to the newcomer, Kai.

'Lothias Jameson, Miss Kai. LT for short. Pleasure to meet you.'

LT smiled down at Kai and took in her appearance. Tanned and sun kissed blond hair - a very pretty, nondescript girl that he was sure the Pipers would individually cock block each other over. Mentally he rolled his eyes - sometimes it was like babysitting children with them.

Kai slid her hand into LT's and shook it firmly. "A pleasure LT."

Regaining her hand, she took up her chopsticks again and slipped another slice of beef into her mouth. The same little moan of delight from the first slice, vibrated her throat as she chewed.

"Pardon my asking, but why are you and your men running through the sewers?"

It wasn't like who they were or what they did was a secret, and she was a Kadzait, but LT kept what the Pipers did as simple as possible. The Commander would prefer it that way, as well as the Beta.

'There's more than one way to get around Nachton. Below the city is an intricate sewer system that is perfect for daytime traveling for the...nocturnal types, so to speak.'

Kai dug into her meal again and emitted a soft, guttural moan that once again caught the attention of the Pipers. Under his breath he muttered, 'At ease,' at the gaggle of male hormones behind him.

Pulling a chair from a nearby table, and much to the other Pipers disappointment, LT settled down backwards in the chair and hung his arms over the back.

'So you're new in Nachton, Kai?'

Nikhila winced, wrinkled her nose and for half a second she thought she might be queasy at that news.

"I think you're quite right. I'd rather not know."Â?

If the Pipers were running the sewers there was a good reason for it. If she needed to know she would be told. Until then she did not need a detailed recounting of the event.

She saw, out of the corner of her eye, that the other men were quite willing to accept her invitation. Nikhila pretended not to notice them standing and then at LT's words sitting back down.

Kai, apparently, did want to know about the sewer run. That being LT's domain she turned her attention to her yogurt and listened. It was more of an explanation that she had expected from him.

Smiling at Kai as she apparently enjoyed her meal, Nikhila had a feeling she was going to make 'friends' quickly here. At least LT had decided to join them and finally sat down.

Lifting an eyebrow, she tucked a slice of tuna into her mouth. "Huh, why anyone would choose that is beyond me, but to each is own I guess."

She swallowed the fish with a sigh and popped another in her mouth.

"Yes, sir. I just arrived today from Queensland." Another delighted sound followed the fish down her throat, and she smiled at LT.

"It seems I'm to run the University Aquarium. It should be an interesting road, that is all I know for certain."

She kept the rowdy bunch of boys in the corner of her vision, and did everything in her power not to laugh out loud at their posturing and silliness. They all seemed to be cut from the same mold, with enough differences to tell them apart from each other. Another slice of beef went into her mouth and she enjoyed it just as thoroughly as the ones before.

'The Aquarium?' Carol had mentioned it sometime before, a place she had wanted to go by soon. 'That just opened recently, didn't it? I haven't been yet.' Turning he looked at Nikhila, being polite and not excluding her from the conversation.

'Have you been yet, ma'am?'

All this socializing was more than he had done in the past six months and he was surprised at how easy it had become. Carol was having a decidedly good influence on him apparently.

Nikhila was a bit perplexed by Kai's planning. She had said earlier she'd just hand her interview today. She must have been very confidant she'd get the job to move here without having the job for certain.

She honestly didn't mind being on the edge of the conversation today. Finishing her yogurt she set aside the container and spoon.

"No, I'm afraid I haven't. I've been rather busy. But I've read some about it and would like to see it."Â?

She recognized one or two of the names they had hired to work there as former colleagues from previous jobs.

"That should be quite the challenge though. At least things will be some what set up for you and you won't have to start entirely from scratch."Â?

Kai gave a small shrug, she knew about as much on the aquarium as they did really. "I have no idea how long it's been open. I came here to research how the health of aquatic plants effects the size of fishing hauls, and how to improve the life quality of an oceanic ecosystem that doesn't rely on a reef system for stabilization."

She waved her chopsticks at LT and grinned. "But it seems my degrees make it so I know enough to break things and Mr. Anderson thinks that if I can lead a group of egotistical scientists then surely I can keep people from drowning or getting eaten by the sharks."

She put the last slice of tuna into her mouth. Kai would still much rather be doing that, but this new direction, "It will be a challenge, for sure. But as to set up." Kai shrugged again. "I can only hope so. The last person with this job ran away to Mexico."

Behind him LT heard the Pipers finishing up their meal and, thankfully, cleaning up after themselves. As they started to disperse, they still managed to give Kai a long side look as they exited. Half rolling his eyes, LT stood and returned his chair to the neighboring table.

'Well then good luck to you, Kai. Maybe I'll see you there soon.' Turning, he gave Nikhila a polite nod. 'Ma'am.'

"That is quite the change of plans."Â?

Nikhila observed. She also wondered about this disappearing the Mexico aspect to this. It sounded like something out of the movies, but art did imitate life and these things apparently did happen occasionally

One could swear the Pipers never did anything quietly, but they did seem finished, with their food at any rate, if not the day. Refusing to even crack a smile at the sidelong glances and LT's expression, she simply returned the nod.

"It was a pleasure sir."Â?

After they had left Nikhila picked at her grapes a bit, they were no longer as appealing as they had been. But she was still a bit hungry and not the sort to waste anything she did continue to nibble at them rather than throw them away.

"So you have no specifics at all yet?"Â?

She smiled at LT and waved at his men, it was the only polite thing to do. "Nice meeting you."

She watched the group leave the communal area and offered a indulgent smile. "They remind me of the boys back home. All noise and bluster."

Laughing softly, she slid the last bite of beef into her mouth, and gave Nikhila a shrug. "I have a job description, expectations and benefits, beyond that I'm walking in blind. I don't mind really, I love trying new things."

She finished up her meal with a sad little sigh and grinned at her pack mate. "Thank you, that was lovely, and exactly what I needed."

Nikhila smiled and didn't dispel that notion. Right now, relaxed and comfortable they ere just as Kai had described them. She knew, however, that wasn't always the case. But this wasn't time for serious matters. They still had a few items on their list.

Finishing her grapes, with out enthusiasm, she laughed softly.

"Well then I'd say you will do fine."Â?

She'd walked blind into the Academy and was quite proud of how well it was doing. They had graduated several classes, granted they were small but still they had graduates and she'd managed to put three masters programs into place and two more were in the works.

Nodding at Kai's satisfied look she agreed.

"I don't know why but food is one of the first things I need after a trip. Shall we see about some rooms next?"Â?

With another grin, Kai stood and gathered up her tray, but had absolutely no idea what to do with it. She was rescued by the same young man that had helped her obtain her meal. She gladly handed him the tray with a smile. She had no idea if she should tip him, but it didn't seem like the right thing to do. She'd ask later and if it was needed, she'd come back.

"Works for me."

They left the communal area and Kai looked around her again, completely at a loss for where to go next. "I don't need much, just a bed to lay my head on and a dresser for my clothes, and maybe, if it's possible, a private bathroom."

She was a girl of simple tastes and had no need for fancy things.

"I think we can manage that."Â?

Nikhila said with a small smile. Poor Kai didn't want to know how little she'd arrived her with. One bag and a few boxes that followed her, that was it, and she'd been looked after well enough.

"It is important to be comfortable though, especially if you do intend to stay for a while."Â?

For a second she felt guilty about taking up a room she wasn't really using. They really did need to finish moving her out of those rooms. Soon enough though they'd be vacating two sets of rooms, she reasoned, so the guilt didn't last long.

Escorting Kai to the front desk they were informed there were a few rooms available on the second floor of the wing Drew was living in. Kai had some other choices as well, but those were the ones she noted.

"Why don't you pick, the floor plans do vary from room to room but I have yet to see a bad one. While you decide I'll find you some help for your belongings."Â?

Nikhila didn't want to hover. Kai was bright and self-sufficient she did not need to be shepherded like a child. That said she temporarily excused herself to waylay the two students, now apparently three, she'd noted in the common area while they ate.

Giving their new arrival plenty of time to officially check in, decide and arrange for keys and such Nikhila and the students chatted about their classes. She was even able to answer one or two questions for the young lady who'd just joined the boys and who happened to be taking her class. Judging enough time had passed they rejoined Kai at the front desk.

"This is William, Jared and Celeste. I think between the five of us we can get anything short of an elephant to your rooms."Â?

The boys grinned enthusiastically and Celeste discreetly elbowed Jared. Apparently he was too enthusiastic.

Kai thanked Nikhila and got down to the business of picking a home. There were several things to choose from and it took her a bit but she finally decided on a room on the second floor with a large open floor plan, several sky lights, a bathroom with a claw-foot tub and a small kitchenette. Kai really didn't need more than a fridge, cupboards and a small bit of counter, so she'd picked one that didn't have cooking abilities. If she felt the need to feed another living thing, she'd take them someplace besides her room.

She was given specific directions and a set of keys, just as the final pleasantries were taken care Nikhila rejoined her with young people in tow.

"A pleasure to meet you all." She shook hands and offered warm smiles. "It's great you guys are going to help. Though I really don't have much."

She led the way out to her car. After popping the trunk she indicated the three duffel bags. "Just these and a couple of boxes."

Kai opened the rear door and pulled out a large box, set it on the ground and pulled out another of equal size. One of the young men took it from her, the other grabbed the other box. She pulled out one of the duffels. Once Nikhila and Celeste were situated she led the way up to her new room.

"Better to be over prepared than under prepared."Â?

Nikhila said, speaking from experience.

She was happy enough to let Jared and William, who had corrected her introduction with 'just call me Wil', take the boxes. They didn't look to heavy but better safe than sorry, instead she and Celeste took a bag each.

"You do travel a bit on the light side though."Â?

Again happy enough to drift to the sidelines she let the younger people chatter at Kai, just friendly banter, getting to know the new arrival, as she followed behind. She was glad they reached the door in short order as she felt a wave of fatigue wash over her.

Maybe something of a nap was in order, although she seriously balked at that idea. it was a waste of time. She would just shower and sit down with some tea and prepare for that meeting. Either way she wasn't sure she'd be able to make good on that promise of a tour, at least not right now. If Kai wanted, she'd manage though.

Kai chatted with the three pack mates helping her. They were an interesting little bunch and she was happy to meet them and get to know them a bit.

They finally reached her room and Kai opened the door and gasped softly. It was much larger than she pictured, the living space was spacious, but minimally furnished. One wall was a sliding glass door and another had a door that must lead to the bedroom. A large skylight let in light to the living area, along with the glass of the door.

She walked fully in and set the duffel on the couch. "Uh, just put everything here and I'll sort it out later."

Nikhila smiled as Kai seemed quite pleased with the room. Xeph was rightly proud of the Den he'd done a wonderful job of making sure his people were comfortable and here, again, was proof.

The students carefully set things down and waited to be sure there was nothing else Kai needed before taking their leave. Nikhila set the duffle she'd been carrying on the couch next to Kai's.

"It looks like this was a good find for you. Would it be appropriate to say welcome home?"Â?

She said with a soft, quiet yet warm smile. Nikhila hoped that the new arrival was as pleased and felt as welcome as she seemed. She felt a little bit responsible for the young woman having found her on the drive.

Kai offered Nikhila a bright smile. She loved the room, it was so lovely and so much more than she expected. Putting her hand on her hips, she sighed.

"Yes, I think so. Thank you. And thank you for all of your help. It was quiet nice to have met such a friendly person on my arrival. I was kind of worried."

She chuckled softly and dropped her hands to her sides. "Now the only dreaded thing left for today is to see if I can find the Alpha."

A lopsided grin curled her lips. "I've only ever spoken to him once, and that was over the phone. I'm kind of intimidated by the image that voice conjured up. You know?"

"It was no effort, and my pleasure. I am fairly easy to find if you need anything else, at the very least I would be able to point you in the right direction."Â?

It was a genuine offer. While this wasn't specifically her job Nikhila quite liked being helpful. And she rather liked what she had seen of Kai.

Nikhila allowed herself a -very- small smile. Perhaps if she'd known who Xeph was when they first met the prospect of greeting the Alpha would have been intimidating. And of course their first meeting her in Nachton had been slightly stilted, but now... well meeting him took on a whole different meaning. She cocked her head slightly and wondered what kind of images his voice did conjure up for others. Of course, her own opinions on the matter were defiantly biased.

"I'm not sure I'd worry about that if I were you. I certainly wouldn't dread it."Â?

Looking at her watch, Nikhila didn't expect Aidan back for a couple of hours yet, but he didn't always keep to his schedule.

"I think he is at the clinic right now. He'll be back later this evening. We could leave a message for him."Â?

Which he would might or might not see unless she gave it to him. Which, of course, she would.

Kai nodded, with a small shrug. "This whole day has been nothing but one gut-knotting encounter after another. I had to fly in a plane, which by the way is awful, and I think air travel is getting worse as technology improves. Then I had an interview with a man, who was an hour late, and then I came here completely unsure of how to even approach the building."

She gave another little shrug and grinned. "I will say that each of those turned out quite well in the end, the plane landed, I have a better job than the one I thought I was coming to America for and I met you, LT, the rowdy group of boys and three nice young people. I'm hoping meeting the Alpha turns out as well."

A bit of laughter at herself followed. "I think leaving him a message works well for me. I'm sure he won't want to size up the newest wolf right after a long day at work, so I can wait until oh...you know whenever. Next week is good right?"

She laughed at her own small joke. Kai had no trouble laughing at herself, in most cases her behavior warranted laughter and she knew she was being silly about the whole thing anyway. But really what girl in her right mind wouldn't be intimated by the whole supreme leader hat that comes with the word Alpha?

Jetlag and stress was a wonderful combination, one she was familiar with. And it seemed to Nikhila that for Kai it had all finally caught up with her and she was decompressing a bit. At least she handled it well and not with a melodramatic break down.

Nikhila answered the concerns with a reassuring smile.

"You'll find he is quite reasonable and fair and even if he should walk through this door right now would hardly hold such a long day against you."Â?

Unless of course you did something incredibly stupid right off the bat, however, she didn't think Kai was in danger of doing that. She'd be a bit concerned that Kai was worrying too much, except the young woman seemed to be laughing at her own concerns.

"But you might want to find him before next week. He might think you were avoiding him."Â?

Nikhila teased Kai just slightly, almost cautiously. It wouldn't due to stress her out further.

Kai gave Nikhila a big toothy grin. "Alright, message it is. How do I go about doing that?"

She looked about the room, for a phone, or paper, or something with which to convey a message. She'd left her laptop out in the car. She'd have to go get it soon, hot sun was bad news for electronic brain.

"Oh and one more question, is that forest land out back safe for changing?"

"I'll take care of it."Â?

Nikhila said simply.

"You just worry about getting settled in."Â?

The question was expected and just nodded.

"Yes, quite. In fact that is what it is there for. Although it makes for lovely daylight runs too."Â?

She grinned, still very aware she hadn't changed from her running cloths yet. Deciding that it didn't seem that Kai needed anything else, Nikhila opted to excuse herself.

"It was a pleasure to meet you Kai. Again do let me know if you need anything."Â?

Once Kai had confirmed there was nothing else Nikhila took herself back to their rooms. She wrote a note about the young woman's arrival and stuck it on the fridge, in case she forgot, took a long hot shower and settled down in Aidan's chair to grade some papers. Those intentions didn't last long and she quickly fell asleep.
